Hi all of ya,

I am actually a newbie with Access. Currently I'm working with 2003.

I would like to hear your opinion about: should I stick for now with 2003, and later (when my experience will be a little more) step over to 2007, OR, would it be a better idea that I should directly step over to 2007?

Thanks in advances,
Ja

Is this for yourself, building databases for others, what is run at your job, etc.?
If just for yourself, 2003. The new interface of 2007 takes awhile to learn and get used to.
However, if your place of employment uses 2007, then so be it.
My opinion.

Hi fneily,

It is for somebody, what still didn't buy his (new) computer. so he can buy 2003.

but the question is, will a Access 2003 database work in 2007, or will it make problems?

Thanks,
Ja

We haven't had any problems with our Access 2003 databases. All have worked fine in 2007.

I think either one is fine for a beginner, but would caution: just because Access has the ability to do something, doesn't mean you should do it. I speak of using the Lookup wizard and the unbelievably wrong multi-select lookup that is available in 2007.

I do like about 2007: the integration with Outlook is cool and I like the Attachment data type (so far at least). Also, you can rtf a memo field.

Hi Lilliabeth,
Thanks for your respond

I think I will - for now - stick with 2003.

I'm using Word for many years, and I once have looked at Word 2007 and I got all mixed up... So I stick to Word 2003 (Well, one day we'll have no choice, but as said: What can be done tomorrow - why do it today...)
