Hi All,

I would like to prepare development environment on AS/400 v 4.5 server. Currently I have only the basic system components.

I would like to have:
- CL scripting and the full-screen text editor
- access to DB2, with queries, structure management etc.
(something like sqlplus for the Oracle is enough)
- C compiler
- Java (for creating simple standalone applications, without GUI)
- Perl interpreter (???)

IBM sells the development tools for AS/400 in packages, and the various packages have the same components inside, and their descriptions are unclear.

What packages (maybe single package is enough) should I order, to have the functionality mentioned above (of course I would not like to pay for the unnecessary options) ?

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks in Advance
Grzegorz

Talk to you IBM rep.

Disclaimer This is my best guess.

I believe you need WSDT (WebSphere Developer Tools). Which comes with RPG, COBOL, C++, PDM, and SEU. Java and CL come with the system "free". You will need the SQL package. There might be perl, but it isn't IBM supported and you might have problems installing it. Search Google for more information there. iSeriesCodePoet
