Hi,

I've started mantaining another offices' Mitel and I've come across something I haven't seen before and from the help guide can't confirm what it does.
We have a lot of 4 digit dialling configured with the ARS Digits Dialed form where I have 2 numbers and then programmed to expect 2 more.

On this adopted pbx there are entries for *xy for the digits dialed, how does this wild card work or is it an incorrect setup?

e.g.
Digits Dialed = *20
Number of Digits to Follow = 2
Termination Type = List
Termination Number = 20

I'm only used to configuring as per...
Digits Dialed = 20
Number of Digits to Follow = 2
Termination Type = List
Termination Number = 20

Thanks in advance
Tim

I think your pbx is linked to other pbx via IP/Xnet were the other pbxs could be having 4 digit stations. The * in front would there to differentiate between another instance of a dial combination that also starts with 20. Example

Dial *20 digits to follow 2 -> this will take you to site B were there would be extensions 2000 up to 2099 . Your pbx would then strip the star * before sending digits

Dial 20 digits to follow unknown -> this will be directing you to a Telco as an example.

I hope this sort of gives you a rough pic of what could be happening. The reality is up to your assessment.

Thanks got me thinking in the right direction!

The PBX with the *20 has been configured to use 2 digit extensions so the staff use the *20 to connect to our office which has the 20xx range. The reaosn being 20 is a valid extension on the local PBX.

Next step, migrate the office to 4 digit extensions to fit in with the standard-ish config we use. I've confirmed the DDI numbers match the 4 digit range we'd want to use.

Cheers
Tim
