I have a user who used to be able to use the arrow utility to click and drag any line of text she wanted, irregardless of whether it was in a paragraph or not.

However, since getting a new computer she can only grab paragraphs, or lines apart from other lines of text. What is the setting I need change to allow her to pick up individual lines again?

Hi, ntwrkrbkj,

Which version of PM and OS are you referring too?

PM has never had the facility to select and drag text around like, say Word or this text box. Or have I missed what you're trying to describe?

Sorry for the lack of info, that's what I get for typing when half asleep.

OS: WinXP Pro
PM: 6.5

Before the computer change, she indicated that she could use the arrow tool to select move a single line of text, whether it was separated by spaces or not.

Now, however, when she clicks on the text, it selects what text it perceives to be in the same paragraph. Once selected, you can drag that text to wherever on the page you wish.

I am thinking this can be cured by a setting which has not been set on the new computer. I have dug through all the settings, but see nothing that will accomplish what I need. But, I could easily be overlooking something.

Not recommended nor supported by Adobe when it comes to system hiccups.

By arrow tool, you mean the pointer or master tool?

PM has never had a feature to drag text around like Word.

The pointer tool will move a selected text block or image around the page. With the text tool, a single click places the cursor; a double click selects a word and a triple click selects the whole paragraph. Text is moved around by copy and paste.

For more details, see page 14 and following of the PM6.5 User Guide.

Are you sure she isn't getting confused with Illustrator and what it can do with text?
