Arrow keys can't be used to kern anymore

I am on an Imac G5/Indesign CS/OSX

I am using shortcut keys for styles, nudging, kerning, tracking, ...

I must have hit something that cancels out my arrow keys. My down arrow key stopped working for moving objects down, but I can use shift down arrow key to move in 1 pica increments.

Now to use the option arrow left and right key to kern (which they were just working) I hold the opt left or right arrow key and now they just move over the characters and it's not kerning anymore.

I figured I must have hit a key combination to cancel them out or something or my program is just wiggy. I really need these shortcuts to work. Any Ideas??

You might check Edit menu/keyboard shortcuts and make sure that you didn't inadvertently change to a new set. if you didn't change the set, you might check the shortcuts under the text & tables area to make sure they did not somehow get changed or deleted.

If that doesn't work you might try trashing your preferences and relaunching to see if that clears the problem.
