I have the Sams book "Teach Yourself PHP4 in 24 Hours" wherein the author uses an operator "=>" to assign values to the named index units in an associative array. The "operator" is not defined in the book, nor can I find a reference to it in quickly available online resources. Does anybody have a clue?

Thanks!

I don't think it really is an operator. It's just a shortcut for defining array indexes and values quickly. It is especially helpful if you are creating arrays of arrays, since you can use one array command, and nest as many of these array creation commands as you want inside.

I think that's all there is to it. It doesn't do anything else.

Thanks for the explanation, Rick. It wasn't a critical issue, but you know how little things can stick in your mind to great annoyance!! The pest is gone.
