I have an ARN router that I need to be able to manage. However, it appears to be set to allow managment from only 1 IP address so I cannot get onto the box from site manager. I can, however, telnet into the box, but can't figure out how to change the SNMP community settings from there. Can anyone help me?

What you need to do is get into the console of the router. Once you log into the console open the Bay Command Console by typing "bcc". Once that opens, type "show snmp community”. This will show you community strings on the system. You will want to find the community string with read-write access. In order to allow any IP address to access the system using this community string type the following sequence of commands:
Config
snmp
community ‘communityname’
manager 0.0.0.0.

(communityname is the read-write community from the show command)

You can then use the show command again to check that this has added 0.0.0.0 as a manager. This will allow any IP to access the router.

Good Luck

Thanks. That worked. So, I now have access to the router from site manager. When I try to make any sort of change (ie add another SNMP IP) I get "Agent is in Secure Mode Authentication Key Required". Is this a different password than the Manager logon password? None of the passwords I try are working.

I don't recognize that message. It sounds like some additional security options that we don't use. When I log in all I need is the Manager login and I have full access. When do you get this message? I do know that you can't open Site Manager and BCC at the same time because each one locks the other out.

I can get all the way to adding a new manager IP in site manager and when I hit OK to enter the changes I get that message. I do not get it using BCC and no they are not running at the same time. Thanks.
