Has anyone got any idea if I can see the ARID or MAC address from a backup file, please?
The system is on 7.1

MAC address of what device? If it's of the 3300 itself (assuming we're talking about a 3300 since you don't specify), that's not something stored in the backup file, nor is the ARID/license file. You restore the backup on a system that is already set up with an IP address and an ARID/license on it.

Yes, the MAC address of the 3300 itself. Or the ARID of course. It's not worth to restore the backup on a different controller, I'd rather go back to site and find out what is it.

You can also go into the AMC for the ARID, no?

Always look out for the next guy because it may be you!

That's the trouble! I can't find the customer on the AMC as they've changed the name and took over the system from somewhere else. If I can find out the ARID or MAC, then I can find what licenses are on the AMC for this controller.

The ID is under the system as well as the serial.

Yes mate, I know that... The system is in the rack though with the comms cab being full. The only way to have a proper look at the box wold be to turn it off then take it out. But if I go to site, I can get that info from logging on to the controller anyway. As I've got already a backup, I thought that might be a way to find what I need from that.

You can take the mitel 3300 logo panel off the front of the controller to show the Hardware ID.

Do you not have access to programming?

The system ID would be in the License and Options form and probably the ARID as well.

What's most important is that you realise ... There is no spoon.

of course I do have access to the programming :)
but the customer is 2 hrs away and there is no remote access

I don't think the licensing info is contained in the backup. I think that is why you have to do the licensing before restoring a database on a Boot_Install.

From MCD5 onwards it looks like the App Record is contained in the backup file in systemdb.tar
Search for Application Record ID:
Does not appear to be in ver < MCD 5.

Many thanks, sarond! Even though unfortunately my system is < MCD 5 so the ARID doesn't appear, I found it in another backup > MCD 5. This doesn't sort my issue but your answer is spot on.
