I just got my computer back from being worked on and now I am noticing a bunch of things that I feel are related. I am running Windows XP.

1.) When I go to open System Restore the dialog box pops up but it is blued out and it won't let me get any further.

2.) When I go to search files/folders the dialog box shows up but there is nothing listed anywhere

3.) In IE none of my javascripts load.. for example when I go to pirates.mlb.com that box with the pictures in it won't load at all. In contrast, Mozilla Firefox works perfectly fine. Things like this have happened onother websites as well.

4.) When I try to load AIM Triton, I get an ERROR message that states "Could not create Boxely service".

These are the only problems I have realized so far.

It's possible that they are related, but maybe not.
[ol][li]Not sure what you mean be blued out. Is all the text & buttons visible but not selectable, or can you not see what should be there? Either way, fisrt make sure the System Restore Service is running---> Start, Run, services.msc, OK. Make sure that it's started & set to automatic as a local system account.[/li][li]Try this: Using Windows Explorer, navigate to C:\Windows\Inf\srchasst.inf Right-click & Install[/li][li]What happens here? [/li][li]I have no idea - hopefully one of the others will turn up something that will mak this start working[/li][/ol]

Smah,

Thanks for the response.

Allow me to clarify further. Wish there was a way to attach a screenshot on here. When I go to open System Restore a box comes up that is blue around the edges and says Systems Restore on the tab but there is nothing inside of it.

I followed your suggestion and checked to make sure the System Restore is running.

When I go to install the srchasst, I right click and go to install and it says that "The file 'msgr3en.dll' on Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 CD is needed". I cannot locate the file because the Search function is acting much like the System Restore.

Thanks again!

So, the System Restore service is running & set to automatic. Does it work in Safe Mode?

Yes, you'll need to put in your XP cd, the installation will find it.

Did you try some of the javascript tests?
