Let's just say they don't have the best reputation. This doesn't mean that yours won't be fine. Just keep your fingers crossed.

PC Chips produces generally, low priced, low-middle of the road products. They usually perform fine for their intended purpose.

Well you've confused me!

800mhz moby? on a socket "A" ??

Socket 7? was for the older AMD K62 series not Duron

And AMD never made a 2.2 Duron processor

So the info you have supplied couldn't be more mixed up.

PCChips make the cheapest of the cheap products but perform well enough for most.

forgive me for confusing you it is a pc- chips mobo 800MHZ m864 ( i believed it said socket 7 but not really sure, gues not)

the processor is AMD Athlon 2.2Ghz. Or at least that's what it said in the box (of this I am very sure)

but thanks for all the feed back figure i will purchase a better one as soon as this one goes, thanks guys.

OK

K7 socket A/socket 462 (Socket 7 is something altogether different)

Sure Athlon 2.2+ exists it's true clock speed is 1.73ghz, it's speed rating is 2.2 (when compared to older Intel P4 CPU's.
Is this one of those boards that has an INTEGRATED processor? normally "Duron" based with some very weired number ratings that do not compare directly to a full Athlon or P4 CPU.
If so most were actually based on either 1.4 or 1.6 266fsb Durons.

Still cannot find reference to that particular motherboard.

It's also possible that the board is socket 754, which was the early chipset version for Athlon64 and Sempron CPU's from AMD.

ok guys sorry for that misleading information it's a pc-chips motherboard model 863 socket 7, i will bring all info of it tomorrow and post or will do it from home since i'm now finally putting the internet at home (it's expensive in El Salvador trust me :)/ and then you can all give me your best input since i'm not too familiar with all these mobo's out there, hey thanks for everything though!

PC CHIPS is very low end on the quality scale for motherboards. They tend to have a higher return rate on their products. That is why they are so cheap. I have seen some PC CHIPS motherboards going for around $25.00. So make sure if you are buying older motherboads you are not getting ripped off on the price. I am sure some people buy their products and can get them to work and they run for years. Approach their products with guarded caution. If you can get motherboards really cheap it might be worth a try, but dont let anyone charge you like $50.00 for a PCCHIPS motherboard that is an older model that sells for $20.00.

I would steer clear of PCCHIPS, because I dont like hassles, but that is my opinion.

Beware of some Review sites when they give good reviews to some motherboard manufacturers. Some companies handpick the samples they send to these sites.

If you do not like my post feel free to point out your opinion or my errors.

Thanks for that advice i appreciate it. I didn't pay to much for the mobo and proccessor combo, but i'm glad to know i didn't get ripped off too much (lol).

By the Way guys it's a pc chips mobo M863G socket 7 hhd 80GB and 512 333MHZ SDRAM. what do you guys think of this one, i am only gonna use this computer to learn how to do graphic designs and web page design. Is this mobo good enough to do all that or should i change it to another one, any advice is welcome.

As you already have it, it will do just fine for 2d Web graphic work. Actually, overkill.

I also do some of thisand you might be interested in this freeware platform theat allows you to set a fully functional php, MySQL,Apache server right on you development PC. It is a great tool.

i apologize for all the bad information i have been providing, please forgive me as i am always in this forum from work and since i work in the computer industry i am not able to bring anything that is home related here.

It is as i had stated a pc chips mobo m863g (model) but it's actually a K7 socket 463 or something like that ( socket i believe i am very close might be alittle of though)
AMd duron integraded 2.2GHZ with 512 333MHZ (one chip Ram)
the board can take up to 2 GB RAM. 80 GB hdd.

Now i have provided almost all acurate info except for the socket not so sure of (lol) I am sorry for having confused many of you all this time. I thank you for being kind to me though ( I am still in the proccess of learning and work only mostly with software not much hardware issues.)But i thank you for all the replies.

cheers,

Luis Lopez

I thank you so much for the link, i am very interested in learning how to do web designs and graphics also. i just installed macromedia photo shop, dreamweaver, and studio 8.

I will look at the link you gave me as soon as i get the internet installed at my house, (since in this country these A***holes are asking me for a copy of the rental agreement which i didn't make and shouldn't have to provide them just to put cable and internet in the house.)

I'm telling you guy's i should've just stayed in the U.S. hehehe

well thank you for everything.

That is one nice feature of the EasyPHP environment, You do not need to be connected to work on your project as all the required functionality resides on your PC.

I run it on a laptop and can make progress no matter where I am(as long as the battery lasts or I have an AC outlet)

It is not extremely large to download but you do need to be connected to get it.

You have a good complement of tools to start off with.

Good luck on your new venture
