Are there any knows issues or solutions ?

I need to have this working because of a 5302

I don't use the helper, I cut and paste from the 3300.

Simpler and less likely to fail

Try using the same string, but set as option 43 instead of 125. I've run into trouble with both Windows and Linux servers using 125, if I switch to 43 it works like a champ.

have used wincrash 2003 numerous times and no issues. what problems are you experiencing?

kwbmitel, would you mind telling me how you copied and pasted.

I've tried copy and paste once you want to configure option 125 after adding it to the scope. No luck with that.

do you copy where you initially create the option 125 under the windows DHCP server

Copy and paste is shorthand for set it up on the 3300 the way you want it to be on the DHCP server and then copy (Write it down) and paste (Program the written down values on the DHCP Server

The option just did not work
I had to se tthe options 128,129 and 130 to get te 5340 working
That is no problem but the 5302 needs the option :)

Have you got access to MOL? Did you say you've tried the Mitel config helper for option 125?

Yes i did and i do :)

But the dhcp helper does not work that well in this case
Hopefully i get the time to test it again tommorow with a new and different install

tlpeter, have you tried to manually type the string in option 125 on windows? copy and paste as KWB suggested works. I've done it so many darn times that I can do this without copy and pasting. having said that though you eliminate the chance of error.

basically you specify a vendor id, phone identifier, TFTP IP and call server IP address. other things like vlan, priority etc are optional unless off course you use it.

Where are you actually getting stuck?

Hi Mitelpassion,

Yes i did type it in manualy
The dhcp server keeps telling me that the option is wrong
But it is the only time i have seen it
They already have a different phone for it because they did not want to wait anymore :)
I think it is there dhcp server but i can not make that hard

Any way you could capture and post the settings you're using? Gotta be something simple missing here.

I believe there is a bug with dhcp helper tool but not sure it's the cause of tlpeter's problem

something about the length of option 125 being too long which cause errors..

@Lundah, i can't
I did copy and did use the dhcp helpen
I did manualy and nothing worked
My colleague had the same problem a few months ago with the same customer but did get it working
The customer deleted somehow and knew it was a hard job to get it working

@Mitelpassion

I cant check it but it had something to do with the type off option
It could not be a string, it had to be another one but i can't remember
I can't check, i have no 2003 server at home :)

There is a bug DHCP helper tool but it does not sound like tlpeter's problem - more like the server is not being set up correctly. Follow the document Mitel provide with the helper tool, and it works fine on Server 2003.

Would a step by step guide help, with screenshots?

A bug has recently been discovered with the helper tool, it generates an incorrect length value for the string. This only seems to affect 5302's in very specific circumstances and not MiNet handsets as they would appear to perform better sanity checking on how the various bytes that make up the string are parsed.

I won't be there for this anymore :)
They swapped the 5302 for 5312
I also never saw this before and hopefully never seen it again too :)
