Are there any good books on Beginning Game programming (in C++)?

Try

Windows Game Programming for Dummies

one of the best books I've seen on Active X and games. It also comes with a CD, a few games and a game engine.

Depends which API you want to learn really, DX or OpenGL?

Skute

"There are 10 types of people in this World, those that understand binary, and those that don't!"

I would highly recommend 3D Game Engine Design by Dave Eberly. It's somewhat disorganized, but the material is really good. He's a mathematician, so it's a clear explanation of the material.
