Morning Everyone,
I have recently tried to get a better hand on checking wether my clients are swapping tapes nightly as they should be. To do this I am checking there drives by running an inventory. If I run an inventory on a tape drive and no tape is found all media is shown as being "Offline", When a tape is found in the drive all media that was "Offline" is now shown as be "Online". Are my inventories running correctly? or should only the media that is inserted into that drive be shown as "online".
I am finding it difficult to think that the wa the inventories are running now is the proper way they should be. Also, Is what I am trying to do even possible?
Thank you to all in advance,
-Tim
Side Info: Clients use Backup Exec vers 9.1 & 10
Tape Drives: All clients use single tape drives
(only 1 tape can be inserted to the drive at a time)
Servers: All Client Servers are running w/ the latest patches/updates
