Are having to (frequently) remove, then re-join PCs to the domain

Over the past two or three months, we have had 5 or 6 machines be unable to login to our domain, using any login name. If we removed them from the domain, the added them back, they were fine.

This happened to several of them at once about 3 weeks ago, but then happened randomly to another workstation this morning.

Has AD gotten corrupted? Is there a way to rebuild AD?

Sounds like you have encountered a problem similar to one I had. Check out the FAQ I wrote around that issue.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Ouch. Not an easy solution, huh?

Thanks for the FAQ... I'll refer to this obviously well-written document as I diagnose.

Thanks for taking a look.

IF your issue is the same as the one I had then no, the solution is not that easy, or more correctly is time consuming. None of the work is really hard and again, IF your situation is the same as mine was then you at least have my FAQ to act as a guide.

Look over the AD replication logs to see if you are having problems that will help you diagnose if this is in fact the same problem.

Run DCDIAG and NETDIAG to also help determine what may be wrong.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Regards,

Mark
