ArcServer V 6.0 for NT and a DLT Changer

Is Arc Server v 6.5 better? Is there a better archiving solution out there?

Arcserve 6.5 mostly just added some bug fixes, a little more robust tape pooling/rotation features and better Archival funtions. For stability reasons it's worth the upgrade cost (In my opinion). If you install it be sure to get the latest patch, already on the Cheynne web site.<br>

There are a couple of other options like Seagate Backup Exec etc. IBM ADSM ($$$$). Having been an Arcserve user for years I'm probably a little biased but I think it seems to work the best.

I must agree. I think Arcserve gives you the most bang for the buck. One thing thoug, since CA's prchase of cheyenne, I have noticed that technical service and technical documentation has been going downhill. I think you will be very happy with ARCSERVE integrating with these following changers (I Speak from experience): Exabyte, and StorageTEK. I have had amjor problems with ADIC's DLT Scalar changers and Arcserve on NT. Musher

Kana- Just go to the AcrServe Website and be sure to download their latest versions for the Library and for ArcServe itself. I find their techs to be inconsistent but I would venture a call to them for the &quot;how to's&quot;. Basically they had me de-install everything, then re-install the ArcServe and Library software. Then I applied the patches but dif. techs give you dif. order of installing. Each system has its quirks, too. The files are:<br>

i've used arcserve and backup exec... backup exec works best for me. arcserve's exchange agent is a joke.

I am new to arcserver as a backup. How are the tapes erased? My old backups would allow me to clear tape for backup.

Chud, the only reason the exchange agent is a joke [to you] is your lack of nt and exchange knowledge. I can install it on any system and it works everytime [unless nt has issues]

I want to backup my NTServer on my novell Netware server using arcserver. I do not want to use Integtating for NT from Novell .
The netware server and th NT server are on the same Domain/ same V-lan.

I am having the same problem and cannot find documentation or help on this issue. I have 20 servers and it is currently happening on 5 or 6. It seems that every few days another server bites the dust. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Backup exec looks better all the time.
