ARCSERVEIT 2000 WITH EXCHANGE 2000

I cant seem to get brick level backups working. The jobs also keep hanging saying 'active'. I have the exchange client installed along with open file agent and file agent.
When a job is finished and you go to the restore manager to check that you can go down the tree of your backup i cant. BUT if i wait a day and do the same thing again i can.
ANY INFORMATION WOULD BE HELPFUL!!

Brick level backups are very slow. They can be around 20meg/min. It seems like the job is still running and they are completeing overnight. The catalog file is then being merged into the database and you are able to see the files the next day.
