I saw your answer and would like to know if CA patches must be applied in any case or only when you have the problem the patch is intended to correct ?
Is there any tuning/confugration to do on the NetWare system (buffers...)as well as on the Arcserve server, to optimize the performances ?
For example, after we had a problem with the merge of sessions in the DB, we did some modifications in the configuration of Btrieve 7 (bti.cfg) according to a technical doc we found at CA site. It works well now.
There is no written rule about applying Service Packs, apart from the companies themselves that will not offer support unless the product is fully patched.
Usually, patches are there to make the product run better although some do cause other issues not experienced before.
It's up to you, but "If it ain't broke, don't try to fix it!" -----------------------------------------------------
