I have arcserve 2k on sp3 backing up an exchange server. It keeps refusing to back up a persons calender. The thing that really gets on my nerves about this though is the fact that the job status says 99% and fills up the C:, plus when you select stop job it just says it is stopping forever and you have to restart the server to get out of it. Is there another way of stopping the job?

Cheers,

Paul

Not sure how to help you with the above.
However, if you have any public contacts, you may want to try restoring those. All I get back is the name, no email address.

I now make .pst files once a month of public contacts.

I have had no problems with the calendar. You may want to export it, empty it and import it. Its a stab, but may clear up the problem.

Arcserve will often take 10-20 minutes to close a job.
Ctrl/Alt/Delete and End Task ususally works for me. Glenn

To kill a job which is not stopping go to task manager processess and look for the program: asrunjob.exe Kill this program and you should be able to stop the job. I have had it happen a few times on me and I have called Computer associates for tech support.

I have tried to kill it in task manager before it just says that the process is locked. I hate Arcserve I think it is unreliable and crap. I knew I should have gone for veritas.

Paul.

We used to use Veritas. We switched, because one time after we did a major restore, the tape restore changed the file date to 00/00/00 on have the files.

This was 3-4 years ago, so they may have fixed it.

The best software was the old DOS software -- at least for single server systems. Glenn

To kill the job, CA recommends using the kill.exe utility that comes with the resource kit.

I stop the job, then go to the Server Manager (NT 4.0) and close the open resources. Seems to work fine.

CA will also tell you to run eseutil and isinteg against your Exchange box. I had a similar problem with calendars, ran eseutil /g /ispriv and isinteg -pri -fix -test alltests and it seemed to fix THIS problem.
