Arcserve v9 not writing to activity log 1

I have Arcserve v9 (and the backup agent for Excahnge) on a Windows 2k server. The backup seems to complete successfully according to the "Last Result" in the job queue and the fact that Exchange truncates the transaction logs. The problem is that Arcserve is not writing to the Activity log. All of the options to log all activity details are selected but still no backup data. Can someone offer a suggestion.
