Hi,
I was having problems galore with ARCserve actually completing a backup. It was running for a year and then 2 onmths ago it started with:
TAPE E6096 Media Error [ABSL:2030 CMD:8h]
E3713 Unable to read from the media
E3841 Unable to find session number (Media-xx Session..
I started reading all the posts regarding Database corruption and maintenance on this forum. I ran the dbcheck, dbfix dbdegrag, and keybuild recomened by many people here and it worked. My astpsdat database alone is 2.6BG (after pruning and defrag) as I backup a heck of lot of servers and do a heck of alot of restores everyday. It did take a few days to fix it but it worked WITHOUT initialising the database as many people here had to do.
I also saw many people complaining about ARCserve and I have to agree with what someone said "You get out what you put in". I was starting to get to the point of throwing it out the window, but I am glad I stuck with it.
To cut a very long story as short as possible I just wanted to say thanks ( I will "vote" for the poeple who gave the useful info as they saved my bacon) and stick with it (if you can) you will get there in the end and remeber all software is bad in some way or another.
Thanks from a very happy Network enginner,
Matt
