Arcserve tape drive error "This is a shared device..." 4

After applying SP4 to Arcserve 2000 jobs are not running due to the following error which is given when trying to view the tape drive under devices:

"This is a shared device on a distributed server and the tapeengine is unable to connect to the primary server. Please make sure that tapeengine is running on the primary server."

There was a previous reference to this (thread478-566376) but I was wondering if there was a fix rather than needing a reinstallation.

Have already applied patch QO39924 but to no avail.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

On the server where the tape device is attached, stop the tape engine, run regedit, and navigate to the following key :-
HKLM / SOFTWARE / COMPUTERASSOCIATES / ARCSERVEIT / BASE / TAPEENGINE and add a key called CONFIG. In the CONFIG key, add a REG_DWORD variable of EnableSharedDevices with a value of 1.
