We were trying to disable the sysadmin flag for the SQL Builtin\Administrators group on our SQL Server. I created the network account in SQL with sysadmin rights that Arcserve should connect with. Arcserve wouldn't connect to the database using the client agent or through the network tree unless the we gave Builtin\Administrators sysadmin rights (which we obviously don't want to do), even though the network account existed with sysadmin rights. What are we missing?

Always, its a good parctice to use "sa" account for backups and restores..

For security reasons, if you u do not want to use "sa" then
create a sql login and give him full rights, so that login can be used for backups and restores...
