Arcserve Restore

I have an ArcServe backup on tape. It comprises 17 LTO2 tapes. I did a restore of my backup server, so the tape database was reset. I am trying to get Arcserve to re-catalog this backup so I can restore files from the tapes. I did the merge function on the first tape, but I still can not see anything in the restore function. What am I doing wrong?
