Upon inserting backup tapes, Arcserve reports that the tape is Write Protected. I've checked and it isn't, the tape media has been used on other devices without errors.

When I insert a brand new tape it accpets it and contnues with a backup.

I've tested the tape device with new tapes o.k., but with any used media everytime I'm told it's write protected.

What is causing this, it's very urgent.

Help!!!!!!!!

The only thing that comes to mind, is that the tape was formatted with a different tape drive? Have you changed tape drive lately?

Scott..

Thanks for your reply, I've found out what the problem is.

The Hardware that has been installed is of a different format (DLT1 not DLT4000) and you can only read taopes written on a different device.

Therefore I've had to purchase a new set of backup media for the tape rotation set for my 2 new servers.

Good old Dell...
