I’m not able to finish any Restore operation, product ARCServe r15.0 (Build 6222). Manual backup though late too much (more than 50 hours for 400Gb) they finish well. Backup media is external disk iOmega 2Tb, destinations targets I’d like to restore are: A full mailbox, some emails to some mailboxes and a full database, all for Exchange Server 2007 SP1. This issue is very important for the business operation and I’m stuck.

So, tell me who can I contact for troubleshooting this issue please. Friday 14th I sent an email to techpubs@ca.com but Failed. Your support page all of them seem to be down (sopporta.ca.com, arcserve.com, etc).

Product help is useless for this issue. I repeat the errors log after Restore operation failure:

1)
Error E8577
Received unrecognized command from the agent. (Node=[node name] [node address], Command=[command])
Module:
Task
Reason:
This error message indicates that CA ARCserve Backup received incorrect data from the agent.
Action:
Stop the job and retry the operation.

For this error retrying Job is useless.

2)
Error E8522
Failed to receive data from the agent.
Module:
Task
Reason:
• This error message indicates that CA ARCserve Backup could not receive data because the socket could not be reset or it timed out.

My timeout was 5 min and set it up to 10 min!

• When browsing the Windows server during a VSS job, the browse process for a writer stops responding and then fails when the timeout value has been reached.
Action:
• By default, the socket times out after 1200 seconds (20 minutes).
1. Increase receiving and sending timeout settings from the registry key below.
\\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ComputerAssociates\CA ARCserve Backup\Base\Task\Remote
ReceiveTimeOut DWORD 3600
SendTimeOut DWORD 3600

Change it as state, from 1200 to 3600, useless.

2. Check the status of the network, and the CPU and network utilization of the target machine.
• By default the time out value for the VSS thread is 20 minutes.
1. Try to reestablish the connection.
2. If you still cannot establish the connection, start the Client Agent service and try again to successfully browse without a timeout failure.
3. If the problem continues, you may want to modify the VSS browse timeout setting. This is a configurable parameter. You can manually create a DWORD registry value for "BrowseVSSTimeOut" in
4. HKLM\Software\ComputerAssociates\CA ARCserve Backup\ClientAgent\Parameters
and specify a different value for the VSS timeout parameter.
• For detail information, see the agent log.

I check the Agent configuration on target mailbox server but they seem to be ok.

Thanks for your replay,
