We are in the process of upgrading from ArcServe backup for Windows r11.5 to r12.0.
We intend to use our existing SQL Server 2000 installed on a 2 nodes MSCS cluster.
This SQL Server installation host already a lots of databases and for backup and restore of these db we DO NOT use any agent but SQL Server native tools and we are just happy with that.

My question is related to the possibility to upgrade our r11.5 ArcServe to a r12.0 and don't use SQL Agent for protecting the db.

We would like to take care of the ArcServe database backup and transaction log backup with SQL Server native tool, as we do for all other db.

Possible alternative?

Please advise.

Frank.

no matter what r12 suite you buy, it will allow the normal backup operation to backup the ArcServe database only. Therefor you dont have to use native tools to back it up.

hey if you are happy with native SQL dump instead of the DB Agent that is just fine.
