We are using an ADIC Scalar tape drive. My exchange backup looks to run when I look at the job status job log. The log shows the amount of data written on the tape, the tape label name(Exchange), tape ID(DF3A) and the SN(000015) of the tape. When I look at the the tape itself from the Device window/details, it doesn't show any data written on the tape. It also shows the wrong SN(000019) that is supposed to the the Exchange tape. The correct SN(000015) as shown in the job log belongs to another tape. This other tape has another tape ID(00e2) and tape label(servers-offsite).

Always use the same barcode for a specific tapes.

This problem happens when the barcode is taken off the tape prior to sending it offsite. Then when the tape comes back a different barcode is put on the tape. Now the database gets all messed up.

ARCserve is designed for the barcode to be used as the tape serial number and the serial number to stay the same for the life of the tape.

Go into the database media view and delete the entries for the tape and then it will be reintroduced with only one entry for the tape.
