Arcserve media used on Backupo exec?

One of our servers is still running on Arcserve. I will be changing the backup software to backup exec V8.6. Could anyone tell me if I can just over write the arc serve tapes or is there something else I need to do.

Backup Exec can read the Arcserve format, you can erase the tape in the devices tab. You dont need to erase when doing an overwrite job.

If you were to restore from an Arcserve tape, to get a catalog, turn off use media based catalogs in the Tools/options/catalog menu.
