Arcserve manager on LAN, admin from desktop 1

Ive installed arcserve on my machine
on the LAN to admin from the desktop rather
than from the storage server

I get the error

"server STORAGE failed to authenticate the user xxx (EC=5)"

Where should I be adding the users with permissions to connect remotely


Any help with this most appreciated

Check if the Arcserve-Discovery and Arvserve-Messenger Service is running on the Arcserve-Server.

Yes both of these are running on the arcserve server

I can use arcserve manager fine from the physical server, just want to get it working over the lan like everything else

Checked the ARCserve share ( by default C:/program Files/Computer Associates/ARCserve ) and the rights on this share ??

Do you have a generic user account as a backup operator? What OS do you have Arcserve installed on? If it's windows you'll need to put the user account in the backup operators group on the Arcserve server and you should be able to connect.

Thanks a lot adding my NT account to the backup operator group worked fine
