Arcserve creates a text log called "Arcserve.log". Is it ok to delete it on a regular basis? Mine has grown to 12 mb in size. I couldn't find anything on the CA website about this.

Thanks!

Can you open it in notepad? I'm pretty sure it's just a text file of the Activity Log tab entries. I guess Arcserve will create a new one if it doesn't find it (i'm not 100%). Or you can open it and delete up to a certain point. Maybe leave year 2002 in, or whatever you like. That should trim it down in size.

The answer is Yes. You are correct in assuming that it is just an actuvuty log file that can be either renamed or deleted. Arcserve will create a new file the next time it does anything -----------------------------------------------------

There is even a way to control the ARCserve activity log from the GUI ( ARcserve 2000 ). Go to the job manager and click 'view-preferences'. In here there is a setting for pruning the activity log the way you want it.
