ArcServe It (Ver 6.6) for Netware which I am using to backup my Novell 5 network is not backing up my files correctly. Though I am requesting that all of the files on the server be backed up - I am only getting selected files which do not include my user or data files. ????

I have a series of 10 tapes which I rotate each day - and would like to re-write the tape with new data each time. What should I be doing to accomplish this? Is there a way to reformat the tapes in ArcServe-It?

The system was working fine until just recently with no changes to the job request - but now I cannot get backup to run with all of the necessary files included. HELP!!!!

Wishing you a "trouble-free" day!

Hello

First of all make sure the user object you are using to login to do the backup i.e. under the login tab on the right in ArcServe manager when you have the source server sellected has spervisor object rights to the server object in NWAdmin (and therefore full rights to backup all the files on the server)

As for formating the tapes. Providing you give each tape a name at i.e. Tape1 , tape2 etc then when setting up the jobs you can chose the option under media rules to over write the same tape name when the job starts. just make sure the name you put in the destination field is the same as the electronic lable on the tape header if you see what i mean
