I'm new to this IT position and have no formalized training. Having said that, I recently (accidentally) clicked on the SQL Server Upgrade Wizard on our server. When I rebooted the server, I got two faults in the Event Log. The first fault is "The Computer Browser service terminated with server-specific error 2550." The second fault is "The ARCServe Discovery service depends on the Computer Browser service which failed to start because of the following error: The service has returned a server-specific error code." These faults come from the Service control Manager.
Now, I have tried to go into the Services in the control panel and manually start both the Computer Browser and ARCServe (they are set to automatically start) but I keep getting: "Error 2550: The browser service was configured with MaintainServerList=No."
I have restarted this server before and never got these faults. I'm running Windows NT 4.0 with service pack 6 and I recently installed PCAnywhere (but I don't believe that installation is connected to the fault).
If anyone has any advice as to how I can get the Computer Browser and ARCServe Discovery Service back up and running Please let me know.
Thanks
