Hello everyone!

Has anyone had any experience of hosting the ARCserve database on a SQL server apposed to the native VLDB?

I am having no end of trouble keeping the VLDB in a solid state. I run regular DBCHECKS etc but it still seems to go mental every few months. I see posts on this forum, from people that end up with "Just initialize the database/s"

For us this is not good enough, and really shouldn't be for anyone else. We do many restores each day and merging multiple 200GB tapes takes too long and cuts into the backup window.

I was wondering if having the Database on a SQL server would be any more stable and quicker?

Any opinions, experiences, or insults would be greatly appreciated.

You know probably that ARCserve's VLDB has a theoretical maz size of 36GB and I even heard of tests with 90GB of data. My experience is that VLDB can go up to 6/7 GB. When growing bigger than that it will corrupt too soon.
Using SQL server will then provide a more stable ARCserve database.

regards
