Hello,
On a NetWare 6.5 SP6 server I have BAB for NetWare 11.1 SP3 running. This is fibre connected to the HP EVA6000 SAN and an HP library with 30 slots and 2 LTO-3 drives.
The SAN guy configure the SAN to have one set of disk volumes running "live" data and another set as a BCV (Business Continuance Volume) which gets Snap Clones from the live volumes.
The NetWare volumes on the BCV are mounted locally to the server running ARCserve, so it appears to have 28 local volumes, but 25 of them are on the SAN.
When ARCserve loads, it loads the CHEYFCBD.NLM module so it can use the fibre channel card (QLogic 2300). This driver seems to be limited to discovering 32 devices and this limitation causes us to perform this terrible procedure when restarting ARCserve.
- ASTOP
- Perform necessary work on server (reboot?).
- Dismount a set of volumes.
- Deactivate the associated pools.
- Unpresent the associated SAN LUNs.
- At this point, we can List Devices and see the tape library devices (changer and two drives) because there are less than 32 devices available to the CHEYFCBD driver.
- ASTART
- Once ARCserve is loaded, we can then present the LUNs, activate the pools, and mount the volumes.
This procedure is a pain in the rear!!
Does anyone have a better way to do this? Is there an upgrade I'm missing?
Thanks,
Rodd
