Arcserve Bricks Level Backup hangs

We have a problem with our bricks level backup . The Backup will hang backing up the mailboxes . it isn't specific to one mailbox or group of mailboxes.
We are running NT4 sp6 , Arcserve 2000 sp2 , and Exchange 5.5 SP4.

No errors are flagged , the backup just sits doing nothing.

Any ideas would be most appreciated

Please check the following link for the backup job setup requirements for Exchange. At the bottom of the document there are links for Exchange troubleshooting and Exchange Agent Install.


Also, please review the patches carefully - when you apply the Arcserve SP2, there is an ADDITIONAL Exchange upgrade at the bottom of the Product Explorer for "Arcserve 2000 backup agent for MS-Exchange upgrade". You MUST install this manually on the **Exchange server**, SP2 doesn't auto-install it.

Hi Jason,

MS Exchange isn't the most friendly thing at times when trying to back it up with Arcserve and you need some specifics performed first.

Check the basics first...

1) Ensure you have the MS Exchange agent installed and configured on the exchange server (I'm assuming you are performing online backups)
2) Check your backup job and ensure you are using the correct MSExchange account to backup the bricks level.

Your backup will not work if you do not have the MSExchange admin account selected for your backup job (or an account with equivelent access setup in the exchange heiarchy).
