Hello, this may be a easy or hard question, but im new to arcserve, but not new from backup software. We installed arcserve awhile back, everything has seemed to work fine we have a few fails everyonce in awhile, so i started to look into this and in device manager it has an yellow exclamation mark next to the tape drive, now is this because its using arcserve driver or its not installed right.

You should apply the latest driver for the Benchmark DLT1 matching to your operating system to have the exclamation mark disappear.

Then go to the device configuration and configure RSM to let ARCserve take control over the tape drive.

ARCserve communicates directly with the SCSI controller, not using the operating system drivers, but the configuration of the RSM IS depending on a correctly installed tape drive/system driver.

Note: it would be helpful to be a little more specific on your environment (i.e. AS version, build, etc) otherwise it's like "Wonder Wheel" to give correct advice.

Cheers
