Using Windows NT version and having trouble merging media from another backup system with the same set up. I get a message that the media is not mounted. I've stopped the tape engine and restarted it, mounted and remounted several times. Rebooted and Rebooted. Still doesn't work.

Originally i had installed updated drivers for the minilibrary BEFORE arcserve was installed. I've since removed those from the control panel as suggested.

Here is the following SCSI set up from using the tapecheck utility:
0 fine -cdrom
1 dcb error no memory -tl891 dlx changer
2 max devices reached -40/80 dlt
3 bad device # -40/80/ dlt
4 already open
5 device not open
6 already locked
7 not locked
8 bad device handle

Currently have a daisy chain set up on the library with the first port plugged into an external scsi card on a compaq proliant 530 with dlt0 and dlt1 chained and with a terminator on the end.

Any suggestions? Software, drivers, or library problems?

Thank you

This has occurred with version 6.61 for Windows NT and Arcserve 2000 which i just recently installed. Everything else seems to work fine except the "merge" option. The new system doesn't recognize any sessions from the disks and when i run the merge utility, the tapes in the library run, calibrate, and then finally unload. The end result is the job bleeping for me to mount the media, but if i attempt it at this point, i get an error "group already open".

Any suggestion would greatly be appreciated. This will encourage me to join this site to help others with issues that i'm familiar about.

Regards,

The main problem is that the group is already open, i.e. the job is already running. Have you tried putting in the media in another slot before running the job? Therefore avoiding the mount media request to the user?
