I have arcserve 9 setup on a W2K server box. I can't seem to get the exchange agent configuration to accept the account I created for it. I setup an account with a mailbox, making it a backup operator, admin, and domain admin but it keeps giving me the error: Failed to authenticate the [domain\account] account. Even if I try to create a completely new account through the agent config tool I get errors. Any ideas would be very much appreciated.

Log into the exchange server with the account you created for the exchange agent. Your agent configuration should authenticate fine. Good luck.

I tried that but it didn't work. I logged on as the user but still no luck. I must be doing something wrong but I can't see what...In the agent configuration, I put in the mailbox name and logon name which are the same, the passwords and the domain...still errors...

The ARCserve 9 exchange agent should give you the option to create a new account and let that be authenticated. Try putting in a new user and mailbox and check off the box to allow the agent to create the account. If it fails, something should be logged in one of the user creation logs that may point you in the correct direction as to where the problem lies.

Thanks mate...That worked...In case anyone else has this in future...When you create the user in the admin tool, it will fail...So you need to follow the instructions in the directory of C:\Program Files\CA\BrightStor ARCserve Backup Agent for Exchange\DBAEXCUserSummary.log

Thanks for your help everyone...
