I recently upgraded my backup software from ArcServeIT 6.6 ArcServe 7. The issue I am having is that the manager software is painfully slow, and deteriorates the deeper you go in the program. The server software is operating properly. I also recently installed an LTO drive and both backups and restores work fine provided you have the determination and resolve to complete the queue.
The installation is as follows:
Server:
Netware 5.0 with sp6a this is just a file and print server nothing fancy. Dell PowerEdge Server with Intel EtherExpress NIC cards. The server has both IP and IPX loaded however only IP is used to communicate to the workstations. IPX is used to communicate to the MS WINNT side of the house via an MS gateway.
I have at CA’s suggestion applied the wsock4g.exe patch.
Workstation.
I have tried installing the manager software on both WINNT sp6a and WIN2k sp3 workstations with the same result. Protocol is IP. I have tried running the manager with both Netware Client 4.7 and 4.83 w/sp1. The workstations are for the most part Dell Optiplex workstations.
I have also added the server name in my worksstation host file and I am able to ping the server by name. I have selected IP as my primary protocol.
I notice that there are similar posts but none that conclude with a resolution any advice from others who have blazed this trail would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jay2Cee
