I have a Dell PV 122T attached to a RedHat AS 2.1 server running Arcserve 7. Arcserve recognizes my tape drive, my changer and the slots within the changer but no media. When I go into Details on the tape drive itself, the Status reads: Device not intialized. Not sure if that's because there is no tape in the drive or because I've missed a step.

Also, this could very well be a procedural step. Do I use Arcserve to load tapes into the changer or do I use the controls on the changer itself or does it matter? Thanks!

I don't know ACRserve for linux, but I'd guess that your tape engine is having trouble reading your tape device.

Have you tried running the ARCserve device configuration? (If such an option exists.)

And Yes, you'd use ARCserve to Mount or Inventory the media in your library.
