I have been having problems with this software now for about a year. Sometimes It's fine, and others it's not. Twice in the year I have changed The DLT tape unit, and the tapes as all te errors I get in Arcserve point to "Bad Media". How can it be? The DLT unit was changed by HP technicians and the tapes brand new. I have also reinstalled ArcServe from scratch, completely deleting all Databases. I don't know what else to try.
I get the following errors:

1145 - MEDIA IS BAD
1027 - BAD TAPE
3035 - FAILED TO START SESSION, A6
MODULE: FILE SERVER
1051 - TAPE HARDWARE ERROR OR MEDIA ERROR
0015 - BACKUP OPERATION FAILES

Also, I get the following message:
The following media can be used in Device Group:

Media Name Serial # Media Pool Sequence
1 TAPE 1225102614 DEFAULT 1
2 TAPE 1225102608 DEFAULT 1
3 TAPE 1225102615 DEFAULT 1
4 TAPE 1225102603 DEFAULT 1
5 <BLANK>

I have 24 tapes which are rotated.

Arcserve is setup to:
-backup to BlanK Media
-Overwrite Same Media Name, or Blank Media First, then Any Media
-Overwirte Same Media Name, or Blank Media

Please help me!!!

What drive model and firmware revision
What NetWare Patch Level
What ARCserve patch level
What SCSI card being used to connect the tape drive.

Here goes...

Tape Drive Model: DLT VS80, Firmware: 5E40
SCSI Card: Compaq Wide Ultra 3 SCSI Controller
ArcServe V7.0 Build 218

Can I just add that according to Insight Manager, Tapes and Drive are fine.

Thanks for your help

You could certainly do with patching up arcserve:

Although this document refers to later versions of ARCserve you should check that none of the drivers mentioned are being manually or automatically loaded, as they will cause conflicts with any version of ARCserve:
