Arcserve 6.61 Job hangs - always - only reboot clears

I have Arcserve 6.61 on an NT 4 SP6a machine with Open File Agent and DR installed. Also running Innoculate 4.53 Virus software.

All of the sudden the backup job hangs on this server. Sometimes it backups up a few meg before hanging other times it barely gets started. NO errors in Arcserve activity log, or NT event viewer. We are backing up 3 (local) drives. Nothing special. I have had the drive
replaced, and have completely unloaded and reloaded the Arcserve software. Also receated the backup job from scratch. Still no luck.

I must reboot the server to clear this job, using Task Manager to kill ASRUNJOB, stopping all services, even trying
PSKILL doesn't stop the job. I even did what someone else suggested and deleted the job file from the queue directory and even though I was then able to remove the job from the queue, ASRUNJOB still hung around.

Does anyone have any ideas why this would all the sudden start happening? There have been no software changes on the server to my knowledge, other than maybe a virus signature update.

Also, does anyone have a "surefire way" of killing ASRUNJOB without having to reboot the server? It's a real pain to the user's while I am troubleshooting this problem.

Thanks, in advance,

Dave

Check whether you have enough disk space on the drive where
arcserve is installed. ( Min 450 MB free space )

Delete the *.QSD folder under the arcserve fodler

Give permission for the arcserve account

Open arcserve server admin and Initalize only the ASJOB database..

Hope this helps

Problem resolved.

The problem (jobs hanging) was being caused by InnoculateIT.
Under Realtime Monitor Options it was not set to "Allow fast backup" Believe it or not, this was causing the problem. Don't know how it got set like that (maybe a virus update?).

Anyway, thanks for the comments.
