I am currently running arcserve 6.6 on a netware 5.1 server...my arcserve is patched up to sp4. I have 2 tape drives attached to this particular server on Archive Pythoon and the other a Sony. Both DDS4 drives....The Archive is on BOARD0 and the sony on BOARD1. Here is my problem....I have had these things running literally forever in such a way that when one tape fills up it will engage the other and poof my backup goes to completion. well here the last few days it isn't working....let's start with the basics.....i can do a scsiscan from the command line and get both devices so i know that it isn't a netware thing....i open arcserve manager and do to device management and there is nothing there at all....so i tried to re-install sp4 to no avail...i have rolled pack my netware support pack to nw51sp3. i need to get this tape drive up and running....any ideas.... On the console, toggle to the Tape Server. Select "Configuration" then first choose "Device". Ensure that both of your devices are there. If they are, ensure that the Group exists by selecting "Group".

If your Arcserve group does not exist, check SYS:ARCSERVE.6\NLM\TAPESVR.CFG and ensure that a group is specified. See if there is a TAPESVR.CF1 that may be configured correctly and replace that for the proper filename. Stop and restart Arcserve (ASTOP6 / ASTART6) and see how it goes. -----------------------------------------------------

Thanks for your help I was able to manually assign the drive to the correct group by hand :) Tamra Graver --CNA
