I have just migrated to arcserve 2k.
I have a tape library connected to the arcserve manager server. This works fine.
I would like to use another server that has a cpq 35 ait drive in it to do another separare backup job.
How can my arcserve manager server access the tape drive that is on another server?
What agents if any do I need to apply to the server that houses the separate tape drive?
I have all compaq server class equipment....both servers are dl380s.

It cannot be done.

You woulod need to either install a Workgourp edition on that other machine, or an advanced edition, or simply move the tape drive onto the arcserve server.

ARCserve cannot control a tape drive on another machine unless it has the ARCserve software (workgroup or advanced) installed on it, and even then you would be just managing jobs to that tape drive using the ARCserve software installed on that server, you would not be using the original server to write specifically to that tape drive..
