Trying to implement a remote DR solution with ARCServe 2000 (german, incl. OpenFile Agent and DR option) on W2K AS SP1(german) from a W2K ARCServe server. The NIC in the W2K AS machine to be restored is an Intel Pro1000. Also applied We SP2 and fix LO85118 for DR (ARCserve build 1050, DR
build 624).
The idea is that in case of disaster the machines are booted with the DR diskettes and access the DLL tape attached to the ARCServe server over the network.
I never got this working. In the end CA support Germany informed me that DR is not supported for a german OS (Why do they sell it in german, then ??? Why would I buy a german backup solution for an english OS ???).
Does anybody have any information if this will become available in the future (CA couldn't tell me) ? Has anybody run into a similar situation and can provide some hints for a workaround ? Alternatively, does anybody know any similar products that provide the same functionality ? I already tried BackupExec, but they don't really do a disaster recovery (instead they reinstall the full OS and restore the tape session). Legato is a bit too expensive.
Any information at all would be much appreciated.
Cheers.
