arcserve 2000 sql agent and . in filename

Anybody seen or heard of this.
I am using arcserve 2000 sp 4 on a windows 2k sp3 server

I have an sql 7 server with aprox 11 sql db's.

10 of the db's backup fine, 1 doesn't.

The error message is "E8542 Failed to receive data from the SQL Server database agent. (EC=10054)
E8563 Failed to send data to the database agent. (EC=10054)"

I have done some testing and it appears to be the database name. The name has full stops in.
Looked on ca website no tid on problem and no agent updates.
