I am running ARCServe 2000 Workgroup Edition version 7 build 1018 on NT4/SP6a

Error 418 or 366 is logged on a handful of individual mailboxes and I notice that SP3 plus another fix should cure at least one of these errors.

What I am unable to discover is whether or not the service packs are cumulative? I don't appear to have any SP's applied. Do I need to install SP1 and SP2 first?

Thanks

To my knowledge SP3 is cumulative. On CAI's website they state that there is no prerequisite for SP3 so that says to me that the others are included. If you find out something different or is someone else knows differently let me know.

AFAIK service packs themselves are cumulative and you don't have to install any previous SPs to go to SP3, actually you are better off not installing SPs any before hand(ie SP2 to SP3 breaks IPX but have heard rumors the BASE to SP3 does not). But any other patches CA has are not included in the SP(even if they were release before it!!) so you have to reinstall all of them seperately. Just make sure that you don't overwrite any newer files. I did this by first apply SP3, then download every patch that CA had. Extracted every patch to a single temp directory, then copy the whole directory into the arcserve directory(Make sure Arcserve is shut down and the discovery service stopped) when Windows prompts you if you want to overwrite a file just choose the one with the latest date. I guess it would be too hard for CA to make a cummulative patch for everything.

Mike

Thanks for the input - I'm off to try the upgrade!!
