I have Arcserve 2000 running on a Windows 2000 server.
Backups are verified and complete successfully.
I have been trying some test restores but although Arcserve says that the file has been restored successfully, the restored file is a fraction of its original size and unreadable. eg word doc 33kb. Arcserve claims it has restored 33kb successfully but restored file size on disk is 1kb and will not open.
I am using data compression.

Thanks

Paul

Paul,

I'm running the same configuration you are and having the identical problem backing up to disk files. The size looks right when files are selected to be restored, ArcServe reports restoring the correct amount but the actual restored files are a fraction of their true size and unreadable.

Backing up to disk without ArcServe compression works fine as does tape backups which use the tape's hardware compression.

Ok, I should have investigated first. QO20824 applied to the WinXP client solves the problem. The backups that were unreadable are now good.

Sorry - I should have updated this thread. I did find a solution. I loaded SP4, Q020824 and Q019352. This solved my problem.

Thanks
