I'am running Arcserve 2000 (no sp got a bluescreen then i try to install it) under Win2000 sp2 backing up a Novell 4.1 server through network (not using the Novell agent on the Novellserver). Then I restore, officedokuments gets corrupted, other files works fine.

Hardware: Compaq DL360, Compaq Ta1000 AIT Tape Array

Anyone have a clue?

Hi,

Please note that you can only restore files stored on a NW server on a NW server, I mean that backing up files from NW and trying to restore those files on a NT/2000 (or other OS) server will give you corrupt files!

If you're restoring on the NW server itself, please let us know. About the SP2, which edition do you have? Workgroup or Advanced? Try to no let the CD in the drive, launch SP2, and when it will ask you for ARCSERVE.MSI, insert the CD and browse it: go to IntelNT\ARCSERVE.AE if you have Advanced Ed, or IntelNT\ARCSERVE.WG for Workgroup Ed. Then select the ARCSERVE.MSI file.

Moreover, on the CD, you have a MSI folder: try to reinstall Windows Installer from there, as this piece of software is crap from MS...

Hope this helps,
LST
