I'm having a problem with Arcserve 2000 v. 7.0 build 1086 . I keep getting in the activity log, at the job summury for my backup "304 Backup Operation Failed". I cant figure out why. I have a simple rotation of full backups weekly for 2 weeks, so basically m-f 1 , m-f 2, then restarts with batch set of m-f 1. I turned off compression on tape media, set option to compress via software (which appears to be fine) and then I had first option of verify. I am using tapes that had data and using second erase option of label and serial ..then choosing re-write any. It appears to work fine except for a few errors on some open files along the way (in activity log). The summary shows all files that were written to media and the backup operation failed message..I DONT GET IT??Is my problem the tapes (do they need to be completely erased the long way???
HELP is appreciated

Ok, I figured out my own problem. Im writing this for others that experiece the same problem. The bottom line is that ACRCSERVE's report that the backup operation failed is mis leading. It did NOT fail, it just was unable to copy 3 files which I confirmed. So I can still backup all my important data, I tested the backup and everything was there except 3 files I dont even care about. Anyhow, its still a good tool but its misleading ...and CA nickel and dimes you to death with the agent purchases..
